Alexander County Commissioners Choice Awards
The Alexander County Commissioners, and North Carolina Cooperative Extension would like to recognize individual volunteers, organizations, communities, etc. for their hard work. This can include, but is not limited to, school classroom volunteers, school PTO boards, church volunteer groups, civic clubs, high school clubs, scouts, 4-H clubs and many others.
This will, again, be done through the Commissioners’ Choice Awards Program. We would like to award the most outstanding adult and youth volunteer organizations with monetary awards of $200 each. Other monetary awards will be given for second ($125), and third ($75) in both the adult and youth categories.
Also, there is a “Community Spark” Award for which you may nominate some outstanding individual who has made a significant contribution to your organization. You may nominate just an individual, group, or both on your application.
Out-of-county judges will be secured for judging the submitted report forms. The Commissioners’ Choice Awards Banquet will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013, 6:30 p.m. at Alexander Central High School.
You, an individual you know, or your volunteer organization has probably performed several volunteer efforts within your community in 2012. Just get them down on this application form and turn them in. Please enclose pictures (digital or prints) and/or newspaper clippings as this helps highlight your organization on awards night via our Power Point visual presentation. Good luck! The deadline for returning the application and report form is Friday, March 1 to the Alexander Cooperative Extension Center.
