Alexander County Top Shots 4-H Club Participate in Regional Competition
Members of the Alexander Top Shots 4-H Club recently competed in the Central Region 4-H Shooting Sports Competition at Millstone 4-H Center in Ellerbe, NC. One Senior Team and two Junior Teams participated in Archery, Rifle and Shotgun. In order to compete at the state level, youth must qualify regionally. The state competition will be held Saturday, September 26th at Millstone 4-H Center. Caleb Gilreath, Jesse Tevepaugh, and Abel Cloer qualified as the Senior Team to move on in the Rifle T-Class by placing 2nd in the region. Senior individual qualifiers were Caleb Gilreath in the Rifle O-Class and both Grant Mitchell and Jesse Tevepaugh in Archery – Compound Match Class. Jesse Tevepaugh walked away with individual recognition as 2nd High Overall in the Archery – Compound Hunter/Sporter Class and qualified to move on in that division. Garrett Brown, Clate Childers, and Ben Jolly competed as a Junior Team and qualified to move forward in Compound Archery with their 1st place finish. Garrett Brown received individual recognition in Compound Archery with his 2nd High Overall Individual score of 193 out of 200. Clate Childers also qualified individually to move on in Rifle and Archery – Recurve. Also participating for Alexander Top Shots were Colby Wike, Nicole Vick, and Zach Mundy.
