Fresh NC Produce for SaleUnion County has quite the selection of fruits and vegetables. With summer setting in, and the changing of seasons, farmers are going to be working very hard to get those seasonal favorites onto our plates. There are many benefits to buying food locally, and Union County has a wide variety to choose from in purchasing fruits and vegetables. When you shop local, you are able to support an entire local food system, and you receive fresh and tasty products that you love. You are also given the opportunity to talk with the farmers that grow the products you purchase, and see families you support. Shopping locally supports the farmer and their families as well as the local economy as a whole by keeping those dollars in our community. Another benefit to supporting local farms is the ability to find products that you may not be able to find in a grocery store. Many of our local farmers are growing fruits and vegetables that aren’t practical for shipping long distances but have amazing flavor.

If you’re looking for local foods this year, Union County is now offering new ways to find it. Through the Visit NC Farms app, which can be downloaded for FREE from the app store. On the Visit NC Farms app, you can take a look at the map to find farms near you or you can filter in search for specific products. Another great option for discovering local foods is the Union County Local Foods website. This website also has the ability to search for local farms by product type and includes other helpful resources such as a guide for what is in season, recipes that use local foods, and upcoming events in the area.Visit NC Farms Union County
