12/9/2022 – We welcome you to attend our 2023 Truffle Field Day!

This event will take place Friday, January 20th, 2023 at our research truffle orchard at the Mountain Research Station in Waynesville, NC

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Agenda:

  • Discussion of the history of the Black Perigord truffle orchard and yearly maintenance
  • Information about testing soil and truffles with the Inga Meadows lab
  • A truffle-hunting demo showcasing a trained Lagotto Romagnolo
  • Discussion about other truffle opportunities
  • and open time for Q&A

We will be holding this event rain or shine! This is January in the mountains. There may be rain, snow, or freezing temperatures, so please dress appropriately!

This is a project of the NC Alternative Crops & Organics Program team led by Jeanine Davis in the Department of Horticultural Science, in collaboration with Inga Meadows and her team in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology and with field support by the staff at the Mountain Research Station.
